BLIND SPOT INFORMATION SYSTEM (BSIS)

in 2024/5 the regulations for Heavy Goods Vehicle’s (HGV’S)are changing in london with the primary function is zero fatalities for vulnerable road users (VRU). The difference between the old requirements & new 2024 is mainly the moving off system (MOIS).
If you are unaware when driving a HGV high up in the CAB the driver has a larger range of Blind Spot area they cannot see.

With the SDS-PZ151 this zone is covered. But this product the PZ-151 fulfills the VRU requirements by specifically covering the left hand side of the vehicle and only detects moving objects such as pedestrians, cyclist, mope users whilst ignoring parked cars, wheelie bins and general street furniture.
The PZ-151 has the ability to be programmed to meet the distant requirement of 2metres (2000mm) and covers 8.5 metres down the vehicle and 8.5 metres from the mounting point to cover the front left hand side area. UNECE 151 is a UN regulation that establishes uniform provisions concerning the approval of motor vehicles with regard to the Blind Spot Information System (BSIS) for the detection of bicycles.
The BSIS is a system that uses cameras or other sensors to detect bicycles in the blind spots of the vehicle, especially on the nearside. The system then provides information to the driver, such as visual, audible or haptic signals, to prevent collisions or mitigate their consequences The regulation specifies the requirements and test procedures for the BSIS, such as performance, functionality, durability, environmental conditions, etc.
It also defines the approval markings and conformity of production procedures for the BSIS The regulation entered into force as an annex to the 1958 Agreement on 18 August 2021. It was amended by Amendment 1 on 18 August 2021 and by Amendment 2 on 18 August 2021 The regulation applies to vehicles of categories N2 and N3, which are heavy goods vehicles and their trailers respectively It is part of the UN efforts to improve road safety and protect vulnerable road users.
